For Agnes Thomas, age 24, the appearance of being well fed was misleading. 
Her abdomen was protruding because of an extremely large fibroid growing outside of her uterus, and by a cyst. Both were successfully removed on February 5 by Dr. Emmer Taqi, the senior-general-surgeon at the Holy Spirit Hospital in Makeni Town, Sierra Leone.
