Today we brought Mabinti Kalokoh, a young mother aged 20, to Dr. Don Davis, the oral surgeon affiliated with the Government Hospital in Freetown. Mabinti’s entire right lower jaw bone is deteriorating due to an infection. Dr. Davis will remove the infected bone in portions over a series of procedures. Fortunately for Mabinti, the lower jaw bone is capable of rebuilding itself when the rotten portions are removed a little at a time, provided adequate antibiotics are administered.
